Miramar College Heavy Duty Transportation Technology Building

An important program in the College's public service field is the Automotive Technology Program, which provides education and hands-on training in the automotive services industry. The new 14,000 sq. ft. Heavy Duty Transportation Building supports the program’s curriculum expansion into the field of diesel, natural gas, hybrid bus and transit technology as well as new developments in construction equipment technology. The building is featured from a raised exterior terrace that provides a welcoming pedestrian scaled presence to the main campus walk. It is shaded by a large cork oak tree where it abuts the dirt test yard. Students, staff and visitors can view large vehicle testing in the test yard, which brings excitement and activity unique to the program into view. Exterior sustainable features include recycled water for irrigation and low water use plant materials.
