El Centro Library

The City of El Centro acquired an aging complex called the Valley Center Point Shopping Center. In addition to preparing a Master Development Plan for the site, Spurlock designed the landscape for the recently completed new library within it.

The library is 19,811 square feet, with separate areas for children, teens, and adults, a community room that can seat 200, craft areas, study rooms, and a “Friend of the Library” bookstore. Since opening, the library has become a community hub inviting family’s to gather and learn about their unique community. The architecture and landscape design is inspired by the natural landscapes of the Painted Gorge and manmade landscapes of regional agriculture.
