Children's Park

Children’s Park has been an iconic component of San Diego’s downtown open space since its construction in 1996.  In 2018, Spurlock was selected  to implement the General Development Plan (GDP) for the park project in order to provide more active recreation spaces for downtown residents, the passive park has been re-imagined as a new neighborhood hub. 

The park includes a series of large and unique play structures, an off-leash dog area, fitness equipment, game tables, and a vendor building with covered outdoor seating. A new elevated walkway engages visitors with the existing Civic Pond and water feature. San Diego-based artist, Miki Iwasaki, built upon the park's artistic and playful nature for the public art component.
