Charmlee Wilderness Park Nature Center

The nature center site covers approximately 2 acres on a south facing slope within the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area in Malibu, California. Expansive views and coastal sage scrub ecology typify the site. The concept includes a nature center building with interactive exhibit and teaching areas, outdoor classrooms, small event spaces and accessible nature trails with
connections to the rest of the park. The concept sought to amplify the experience of arrival in a natural setting by creating a dramatic revelatory approach to the nature center building. The understated building and path to it were designed to respect the topography and accentuate views.
